Maricopa County Health Care for the Homeless

Maricopa County Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) was established in 1984 and offered only basic health care to the homeless in the downtown Phoenix area. In 1988, the Maricopa County Department of Public Health was awarded McKinney Homeless Assistance Act funds, and this enabled HCH to provide an integrated system of health care services throughout the county for homeless individuals and families. Quality health care is delivered to homeless people through street outreach, integrated primary care, substance abuse services, behavioral health, case management, and nutrition services.
