Summary of Position
Responsible for managing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant-funded projects.
Essential Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting HRSA/EHB training for Development Team members, on an ongoing basis
- Managing the work activities/grant-seeking activities of the Grant Writer
- Leading grant proposal development and submission, and in collaboration with the Grant Writer, preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications
- Researching, in collaboration with the Grant Writer, new federal, state, local government, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities on a local, state, and national, and federal level.
- Drafting proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives, and budgets, and collaborating with program staff, Finance, and the Chief Development Officer to finalize these documents prior to submission
- Maintaining grants files, including correspondence, grant agreements, and associated grant-related documents in the designated Development Drive
- Maintaining a list of on-line grant portal user names and passwords in the designated Development Drive
- Maintaining grants information in Compliatric
- Maintaining grant compliance and reporting for federal, state and local government, foundation and corporate grants, in collaboration with the Grant Writer, Finance and Program Staff
- Drafting and submitting, in collaboration with the Grant Writer, progress reports and targeted program updates to funders that fully capture programmatic success
- Working with Program Staff in order to secure grant funding to support the strategic direction of programs, as determined by the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership
Qualifications
Basic Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals;
- Strong editing skills;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to meet deadlines;
- Knowledge of fundraising information sources;
- Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors;
- Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies;
- Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research;
- Strong contributor in team environments.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher. Concentration in business, community development, education, human resources, or social care
- Previous grant writing experience or a similar position
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Demonstrated interest in working with an underserved population.
- Performs related functions as required.
