AACHC Program Overview

Migrant Health Program

The Migrant Health Program Director works with Community Health Centers statewide to improve access to health care services for the thousands of migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and their families who toil in the fields of Arizona.

The purpose of the outreach to migrant and seasonal workers is to reduce the health disparities found in this population when compared to workers in more traditional occupations. In order to accomplish this purpose, the Association recently awarded Migrant Health Outreach Grants to four Community Health Centers in Arizona.

Migrant Health Program Goals:

  1. Improve access to primary health care for migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and their families.
  2. Decrease health disparities of migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and their families.

Activities:

  1. Assist the AACHC Clinical Program in expanding the number of Arizona CHC's participating in the BPHC Clinical Collaborative.
  2. Assist CHC's and community based clinics interested in applying for new start and expanded medical capacity funding.
  3. Assist the CHC's with cultural competency information on serving migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and their families.
