HIV Testing/Treatment Resources:


We have two Community Health Centers that specialize in HIV/AIDS care: El Rio Community Health Center’s Special Immunology Associates Clinic in Tucson and Maricopa Integrated Health System’s McDowell Healthcare Center, which is co-located with the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS in Phoenix. Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS specializes in testing, clinical research, and health and wellness programs. National HIV/AIDS Strategy:


Click here to view information on the National HIV/AIDS Strategy and Implementation Plan. The three primary goals of the strategy are to reduce HIV incidence, increase access to care and optimize health outcomes, and reduce HIV-related health disparities.

Clinical Guideline for HIV Screening in Arizona – Tool developed in conjunction with the AIDS Education Training Center and the AZ Department of Health Services is a one-page resource that can be printed out.

The Health Resources and Services Administration HIV/AIDS page includes information on the Ryan White Program as well as HIV/AIDS data, guidelines for HIV/AIDS care delivery, and information on technical assistance.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention HIV/AIDS page includes a wealth of information on HIV/AIDS, including recommendations and guidelines.

AIDSInfo offers information on HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and research, including federally approved HIV/AIDS medical practice guidelines.

HealthHIV advances effective prevention, care and support for people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS by providing education, capacity building, health services, research and advocacy to organizations, communities, and professionals. They host CME webinars and have an online resource center.

The National Association of Community Health Centers provides information on implementing routine HIV/AIDS screening and links to tools and other resources for health centers.

The Arizona Department of Health Services HIV Prevention Program has staff that is specialized in several areas of HIV prevention: Community Planning; Program Monitoring and Quality Assurance; Counseling and Testing Services including partner services and rapid test technology; Capacity Building and Community Support; and Evaluation and provides technical assistance to governmental and tribal agencies as well as community-based organizations and AIDS service organizations.
