Learning Objectives:

Day 1 –  Billing and Coding Bootcamp

  • CHC Coding Series – a three part CHC Coding series. Part I of the series offers attendees an overview FQHC billing, why coding is still important, unique CHC specific reimbursement discussion and revenue opportunities. Parts II and III offer in-depth understanding of the E&M coding algorithms, documentation requirements, modifier usage and medical necessity. Each 90 minute sessions builds on the preceding one to offer a comprehensive understanding of coding and how CHC reimbursement can be affected.
  • Dental Coding –  Starting with the coding basics and building to common and complex scenarios, attendees will gain an understanding of proper coding in the FQHC setting. From terminology, coding examples, common reasons for nonpayment of a claim and an overview of the billing process.
  • Behavioral Health Coding –Everyone talks about documentation for E&M services but what documentation is required for behavioral health codes? Can all the codes be utilized by all Behavioral Health Providers? What happens when a non-core provider sees a Medicare patient? Ready for ENTIRELY NEW 2013 BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CODES? Learn what CMS and Specialty Societies recommend from a documentation standpoint. What revenue codes are reported for mental health services and when should they not be used? How can you measure your compliance risk and revenue opportunities? Handouts will be provided with a mental health audit tool for some of the more commonly used CPT codes.

Day 2 – C-Level Boot Camp

  • ICD-10: Transition Step One – Careful planning and consideration throughout the entirety of your CHC is necessary to address all impacted work processes. Fully engaged, careful, and thorough leadership will be required to successfully implement this huge change.
  • Leadership Top 10 Questions – Is your organization a fiscal champion? How do you compare to other FQHCs? Discover the key questions to ask and the benchmarks to which staff should perform. Become insightful and knowledgeable in an arena most non-financial leaders dread. Evaluate your success with quantitative methods.
  • KPI: Practical Examples – Tired of lecture format preferring instead to learn by working through examples with your peers? Wanting "real life" scenarios with which to work to make the content more meaningful? Attend this program to learn "how to" assess a billing department, evaluate critical KPI by payer and by clinic. Understand how to make a rapid assessment of a new situation AND what anomalies will require additional research. Leave this session empowered to evaluate your team and relevant financials to create a better plan for your organization to thrive financially.
  • The Communication Triangle – Learn what your staff in coding, billing and front desk are hearing from each other and the miscommunications occurring.  Learn more effective communication methods in order to help these areas become a more cohesive team.
