The ability to provide culturally appropriate services is an important element in the provision of high quality health care to the over 25,000 Native Americans that Arizona’s Community Health Centers serve each year.

Serving patients in a culturally competent manner is also closely tied to the 19 requirements of Federally Qualified Health Centers.

Learning Objectives:

1) Increase understanding of Native American cultural customs, communication styles, and identity in order to better serve the population.

2) Increase understanding of best practices in cultural competency for Native Americans to enable delivery of services to meet the needs of the population.

Training will be led by Yvonne Fortier, LPC, LISAC, Vice President of Diversity at Terros
