AACHC is continuing its series in developing and refreshing skills for leads, supervisors and managers.  This year, we have engaged Rising Stars, LLC., to bring a dynamic training to our upcoming CHC leaders, Your Role as a Leader.

Who Should Attend:

      • Staff moving into supervisory/leadership positions
      • Those who need a skills refresher
      • Leads, Supervisors, Managers, Directors

The Leadership role is very different that your previous role if you are one of the many people who began with the organization as a person who provides direct client care.  Individual contributors, experts, and technical specialists often find themselves in a leadership troll which requires that they no longer produce the work themselves, but rather, accomplish the work through other people.  This requires skills that may not have been essential before; such as leading and influencing others.

Fulfilling Your Role as a Leader

      • Your role in leading people
      • Differences between leadership and being an individual contributor
      • How to get results through staff
      • How to establish authority and become respected
      • Pitfalls to avoid for first time supervisors & managers
      • What to do when problems arise
      • How to set expectations and delegate

Giving and Receiving Feedback

Giving feedback is the number one skill all leaders of people need to develop to hold people accountable.  Yet feedback is often seen as a negative so leaders avoid it at all costs.  After this afternoon, you will be able to understand the common barriers of giving feedback and how to overcome them, as well as the steps that will make feedback more positive and still hold people accountable.

      • Barriers to giving feedback and how to overcome them
      • Steps to give feedback positively
      • Apply the steps for giving feedback to a real-world situation
      • How to handle common responses to feedback
      • How to use effective follow up actions
