Prevention Specialist Duties Include: 

  • Collaborate with team members to deliver HIV and Hep-C prevention and education in the community.
  • Conduct community recruitment throughout Maricopa County to educate residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as initial point of contact for departments by responding to inquiries and requests or directing as appropriate.
  • Provide information regarding programs, courses, policies, and procedures to internal and external contacts.
  • Develop skills in the prevention of substance abuse, HIV, hepatitis other communicable diseases through study and training.
  • Search for updated referral information as needed for program participants needs.

Education – High school diploma or GED in combination with life/work experience working in the field of HIV and/or substance use/abuse prevention.


  • Bilingual in English-Spanish preferred.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Word, Intermediate Level Excel, Power-Point, Outlook.
  • Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends if the Director deems it necessary to achieve the objectives of the program.
  • Willing to work with all cultures and sub-cultures that comprise the population of Maricopa County in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Must have or be able to attain CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days of assuming role.
  • Must have valid Arizona driver’s license, be 22 years of age with minimum 3 years driving experience and meet requirements of Terros Health’s driving policy.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for an Arizona fingerprint clearance card (Level 1) within 7 working days of assuming role.
  • Must pass a TB Test.
